As well as being a source of exercise the team acts as a community hub for many of the Gogo's. Many of whom are raising orphaned children as a result of the HIV/aids epidemic.

Many of the team members are HIV/Aids orphans and live in child headed households. The daily training schedule and weekly matches are a welcome addition to lives facing many challenges. Poverty is high in Alexandra township which is a short distance from the wealthy world of Sandton, Northern Johannesburg.   • Africa's last remaining team in the competition - Ghana- exit the cup after losing to Uruguay on penalties in the quarter final of the world cup. The torment is made all the more unbearable as Ghana are denied a goal by a deliberate handball by Luis Suarez in the last minute of extra time only to have Asamoah Gyan's penalty hit the crossbar.
