  • Aina Ananias is a grandmother in her 60's. She lives in a household of eight people including her grandson who is under five years old and therefore in the high risk category for catching malaria, so she will be sleeping under the net.  <br />

  • Jutine Diakis, aged 50. Jutine lives with four others in her household. Jutine contracted malaria last year and had terrible pains in her head and in her back. She went to the hospital and was given treatment.  Although she is well now, she worries when the rainy season comes again as there is a higher risk of contracting malaria. In 2009, Jutine's 20 year old son Samuel was also seriously ill with malaria, he collapsed and Jutine took him to hospital where he received treatment and he is now in good health.   • Joseph and Tina Gariseb with family and their new net. Three of the children are under five and therefore in the high risk category for catching malaria. During the rainy season they are more at risk from catching malaria and in the past Tina has suffered with malaria symptoms of sweating, coughing, appetite curbed and severe weight loss. She was admitted to hospital where she spent two weeks. Joseph has also had malaria, he first contracted it during the rainy season of 2006 and has suffered again very recently.   • Net Recipient - Ester Neliwa's daughter under net. 10.  There are five in her family, including her three daughters ages three, four and 11 months old, therefore all in the high risk category for catching malaria. Ester is receiving three nets, for the first time. The NetsforLife 'Malaria Agents' have also shared information with her on malaria prevention as well as practical demonstrations on how to best use and maintain the bed nets to maximise longevity and effectiveness.  Ester says: "I am comfortable now we have the nets".

  • Bonafactious 20 Oroses with wife Valencia 17 and daughter Patricia who is 1 and therefore has a high risk of catching malaria. Bonfactious had malaria while he was still in school some years back. He was admitted to hospital with a severe headache and unable to eat. He was in hospital for two months so got behind on his education. He noted that many, many children at his school also suffered from malaria and missed their schooling.   • Marta Ames. There are four people in her household including Marta and her nephew, Antoine who had malaria as a young boy and spent five days in hospital. Thanks to use of rapid diagnostic tests, he was correctly diagnosed and treated and he made a full recovery and is now in school and in good health. The NetforLife 'Malaria Agents' provided Marta with two bed nets along with practical demonstrations on how to hang and best use the bed nets to maximise longevity and effectiveness.

He spends his time building his home using zinc sheets and salvaged materiel. Paulus suffered from malaria three years ago and needed to get treatment at the nearest hospital, a 100 kilometres away. It took him one week to walk the distance.				 <br />
